ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to examine the military intervention in politics and human rights abuses in Nigeria under Abacha regime. Specifically, the study aimed at examine if military intervention in politics was a great impact on Nigeria, examine the cases of human rights that was violation in 1993-1998 and examine cases of military intervention and human rights abuses in Nigeria politics. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 141 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analyzed, the findings revealed that Military intervention is a blessing to Nigeria Politics. The study also revealed 1993 regime violated human rights. Lastly, the study revealed military intervention had an impact on Nigeria politics . The study thereby recommend that that the political class and elites should not allow a repeat of the country’s experience between 1979 and 1983 that led to the second coming of the military in politics. And the socio economic challenges confronting the country should be objectively addressed with emphasis on the alarming rate of insecurity and unemployment in the country.
